Over 4,500 people participated in the solidarity visits to the Agbar Tower over the weekends this July, organised by the Agbar Foundation and Banc dels Aliments. The initiative mobilised more than 60 volunteers, among them Agbar Group employees and representatives of Banc dels Aliments, who were in charge of giving a tour of the Agbar Tower's most emblematic areas. These included the Auditorium, the Espai Gaudí and the dome, which tops the building’s 142 metres. Thanks to donations from visitors, more than 16,000 euros were raised, which will be donated entirely to the Banc dels Aliments 'Hunger doesn't go on holiday' campaign.
The initiative was very popular with the public, who for the first time could see the inside of one of Barcelona’s most emblematic buildings, with tickets to visit Agbar Tower selling out in June. A waiting list was started in an attempt to satisfy all the requests.
Solidarity auction of Agbar Tower furniture
In addition to this initiative, due to the Group's company headquarters being moved to the 'City of Water’ on Passeig de la Zona Franca, the Agbar Foundation has started auctioning off the Agbar Tower furniture. You can access the auction, which will close on 5 August, at http://www.escrapalia.com/subastas/evento/457. All the money raised from the auction will also be donated to the Banc del Aliments campaign ‘Hunger doesn’t go on holiday’.
