Angel Simón: ‘Our aim is to keep strengthening our current involvement in social projects and participate in more’

The Agbar Foundation held a meeting today with a number of its partner NGOs to seek synergies, incentivise commitments, exchange ideas and continue strengthening its lines of action with groups in situations of vulnerability.

Angel Simón, Agbar’s President and CEO, stressed that ‘this co-working space has given us the opportunity to meet the people who carry out the social projects that Agbar is working with. We are a company that guarantees people’s right to water. As a company, we have a global project, which we develop collectively, with our workers and our stakeholders, based on values of equality. We seek to become a more integrating and inclusive company, and our instrument in doing this is the Agbar Foundation’.

In reference to the Foundation’s work, the Agbar President and CEO stressed that ‘our Board of Trustees includes people with an outward-looking vision who help us decide on the most suitable projects to work with, which are carried out by our partner NGOs who have the knowledge to make them a success. Our aim is to keep strengthening our involvement with them and participate in more’.

Eduard Pallejà, director of the Agbar Foundation, was the host of the event at Ágora Agbar and stressed ‘the Foundation’s commitment to NGOs who work with groups at risk of social exclusion’.

Among the projects in which the Foundation participates, today saw the presentation of the Ateneu Sant Roc project for social and labour market integration in the Sant Roc district of Badalona; the Espigoladors project, which works to reduce food and resource waste and empower people in vulnerable situations; the Mariano Foundation, a training and work integration programme for young people in Sant Boi de Llobregat; the Balsa ESO de Saó Prat project, which helps young people continue their studies; and COCEMFE Barcelona, which promotes the removal of architectural barriers in bathrooms of the homes of people with disabilities.

There will be another such meeting next year. The goal: to find synergies, create a relational network, publicise our cooperation projects and facilitate the exchange of ideas and networking among the different NGOs.
