Eduard Pallejà, director of the Agbar Foundation, has signed an agreement with the president of Red Cross Catalonia, Antoni Aguilera, to work for a further year on the NGO’s infant feeding programme. Last year, the Foundation’s contribution went towards helping 1,315 children in situations of vulnerability, with aid amounting to €76 a month per child.
The Agbar Foundation has renewed its agreement with the Red Cross for the fifth year running to guarantee food for children and their families throughout the year, especially over the summer period. Through this agreement, the Agbar Foundation will provide €100,000, which represents a contribution of €76 per child per month. In doing this, the Agbar Foundation provides support for the Red Cross infant feeding programme and continues its 2013 agreement with the NGO.
The aim of the programme is to ensure that hundreds of children and their families at risk of social exclusion throughout Catalonia can maintain a healthy balanced diet, as part of the Humanitarian Alliance for Infant Feeding. The campaign seeks to involve all social agents and tackle the social emergency among the Catalan population, especially children. So far 113,175 food aid contributions have been collected from private individuals and companies, including the Agbar Foundation. The initiative was publicised on social media with the hashtag #donemlilavolta and full details are available at www.donemlilavolta.org.
This agreement is part of the Agbar Foundation’s desire to work with NGOs running projects to combat food poverty.
